چکیده

High-level, restricted coupled cluster with singles, doubles, and perturbative triples calculations are performed to determine the ground electronic state of KO. In the absence of spin–orbit coupling, we find that the ground state is a S state, with a P state lying just over 200 cm higher in energy. We ascertain that basis set extension, higher-order correlation energy, mass-velocity, and Darwin relativistic terms do not change this ordering. We then calculate the low-lying V states when spin–orbit coupling is turned on. The S1/2 1 state undergoes an avoided crossing with the P1/2 state, and we therefore designate the ground state as X 1 2. This state is essentially S1/2 1 at short R, but essentially P1/2 at long R; there is a corresponding A 1 2 state with the opposite behavior. These states have significantly different shapes and so spectroscopy from the adiabatic states. Finally, we calculate the dissociation energy D0 , of KO as 6661 kcal mol 21 and derive DH f(KO, 0 K) as 13.661 kcal mol. © 2002 American Institute of Physics. @DOI: 10.1063/1.1511179#

Microscopic Parameters in the Excited State of Toluene and Some of Its Haloderavatives

The Ultraviolet-visible (UV) spectra of toluene, ortho-bromo and para-bromo toluene in different solvents have been studied. The electric dipole moments and polarizabilities in the molecular excited electronic states were determined. It was found that the electric dipole moments for the excited states (µ*) and the ground states (µ) of these compounds are equal, and the change in dipole moment i...

Empirical Potential Energy Curve for the Ground State of CaH from a Multi-isotopologue Direct Potential Fit Analysis

Vibration-rotation and pure rotational data in the X2Σ+ ground state and electronic data from the A2Π – X2Σ+ and B2Σ+ − X2Σ+ transitions of CaH and CaD were used in the quantum-mechanical direct-potential-fit (DPF) analysis to determine an analytic potential energy function for the X2Σ+ ground state of CaH, and a radial correction function for the CaD isotopologue. The potential energy function...

HIGH PRESSURE BEHAVIOR OF KCl: STRUCTURAL AND ELECTRONIC PROPERTIES

The high pressure behavior of the structural and electronic properties of KC1 is studied with use of the density functional pseudopotential method within local-density approximation. Atzero pressure, the rocksalt phase is found to be lower in energy than CsCl structure. However, we predict a phase transition into CsCI structure at a pressure of about 1.5 GPa. The calculated ground state pro...

The Effect of Structural Parameters on the Electronic States and Oscillator Strength of a Resonant Tunneling Quantum Well Infrared Photodetector

In this paper a resonant tunnelling quantum well infrared photodetector (RT-QWIP) is discussed. Each period of this photodetector structure comprises of a resonant tunnelling structure (AlAs/AlGaAs/AlAs) nearby a quantum well (AlGaAs/GaAs). In this photodetector, photocurrent is produced when an electron makes a transition from the ground state of the well to an excited state which is coupled t...
